Because of the intricacies of merging angles and arcs, the New York Beauty quilt block is among the most challenging. Templates and paper piecing have made this concept easier to achieve. Still, in keeping with my goal of taking embroidery beyond the hoop, I offer my New York Beauty machine embroidery quilt blocks series.

These blocks are digitized with all embroidery - no applique or piecing in the hoop. Made with TEXTURED SEMI-OPEN FILLS you will find these blocks to be soft and pliable for any quilt project.

Because I wanted to sew these on colored fabric I made these fills slightly denser than the 8 Point Star block. Some fabric does peek through some areas, so the color fabric you sew these on will affect how the embroidery looks.

I have been noticing more and more quilts made with the New York Beauty block. Colors abound. Let your imagination run wild!

Quilt Layout for Quilt Shown at the Top of the Page

This advanced floral quilt layout is 21x 27 inches. Add stems and leaves as desired. The stems are 1/2 inch bias strips of fabric with paper backed fusible web on the backside. Leaves are a simple cut leaf in various sizes from green fabrics with paper backed fusible web on the backside. Click the bottom of the real quilt shown at the top of the page for a close up of the stems/leaves.

Fabric requiements are in the document that accompanies the collection.

Disclamer: No quilt instructions are given. Novice quiltmakers should consult an experienced quilter or your local quilt shop for assembling the quilt top and making the quilt.

This quilt layout is not on-point so simpler to make
